As many will be aware, there have been works happening at the Water Recycling Centre on Toller Lane. Parish Council have been notified that the works will be completed a month earlier than expected, the letter explaining the situation is below. Parish Council has been assured that the field housing the site compound will be returned to its original state, the hedgerow replanted and fencing reinstated. Chair of Parish Council, Neil Farmer, thanked the workforce as disruption has been limited.

Parish Council has requested a report in 12 months time to see what difference the improvements have made to discharge rates into local waterways. This has been agreed to.

(Dear Parish Council)

Completion of environmental improvements, Toller Porcorum WRC

As you may recall, earlier this year, we wrote to you about a major programme of improvements at Toller Porcorum Water Recycling Centre (WRC), off Toller Lane.

This major investment of £1.5 million was to ensure the site continues to keep pace with our regulated water industry obligations and ensure the quality of the treated wastewater continues to meet the highest standard, improving water quality and the environment.

Thanks to the hard work of our team, including installing additional storage to help prevent storm overflows from automatically discharging into rivers if the system becomes overwhelmed, this project is now expected to be completed ahead of schedule, finishing at the end of January 2025, rather than February 2025.

We would like to thank the local community for their co-operation, patience and understanding and will shortly be writing to them to confirm the completion of the project.

I attach a copy of that letter for your information.

In the meantime, should the parish council have any further questions about this work, please do not hesitate to contact me via this email address.

Best regards,

Chris Harrison
